Man shot to death in Braddock

A 34-year-old man was found fatally shot outside his Braddock residence early today, police said.

The victim was pronounced dead about 3:48 a.m. in front of his home in the 700 block of Parker Avenue, said Assistant Superintendent James Morton of Allegheny County Police.

The coroner's office today identified him as Derik Benzo.

Benzo was found alone, seated in his 1983 BMW with gunshot wounds to the back of his head. An assailant had apparently fired through the windows of the vehicle, Morton said.

Police responded after neighbors reported hearing gunshots.

Morton said police had not identified a motive or suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call Allegheny County Police at 412-473-3000.
