For the subset that loves “The Voice’s” blind auditions more than the live season, pencil in Monday and Tuesday.
The NBC musical juggernaut returns with a two-hour special at 8 p.m. and brings back Gwen Stefani as well. Other coaches returning for Season 12’s coaches are Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Alicia Keys.
Mr. Shelton is a five-time team winner, most recently with country (naturally) singer Sundance Head.
• It was a retro sort of week on “Face Off” (Syfy, 9 p.m.). The five remaining pairs of designers took on that sci-fi classic theme of “science experiments gone wrong.” Ever seen “The Fly”? These things never go well.
Anyway, it was a non-elimination episode, and Tyler Green, a Tom Savini Monessen program grad, and his partner, Emily Serpico, won immunity for next week. They created two versions of an “electroshock” monster that was simple in design but stunning in its paint and execution.
Guest judge John Landis seemed to love everyone’s work, especially the “Irwin Allen Lost In Space” blob monster by Logan Long and Adam Milicevic.
Next up: designing the drivers behind the wheel of some “Mad Max”-like dystopian vehicles.
• Science Channel’s “Mythbusters: The Search” will broadcast its season finale Saturday (9 p.m.), with the remaining four contestants showing off their mythbusting skills.
The finale, which features a “water heater jail break,” is going out live from the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey. What could possibly go wrong?
The final four includes a “tinkerer and inventor” with degrees in geology, ecology and psychology. Thanks to those advanced degrees, he also has an awesome name: Dr. (Martin) Pepper.
