“Face Off” judge Ve Neill described a big-bug monster as Mel Licata’s best work yet, but the Savini program grad still went home this week on Syfy’s “Face Off” (Wednesdays).
The four semifinalists, in a crossover promotion with Universal Studios Orlando’s summer release attraction “Skull Island: Reign of Kong,” had to design evolved versions of dangerous, scary critters.
Ms. Licata got off to a rocky start, ripping the clay off her face sculpt on the first day and scrambling after that. She did simple shapes but detailed paint on her “Decarnocimex,” hiding a boatload of duct tape under the armor: “Duct tape is the only tool you need for fabrication.”
It came down to New Jersey’s Ms. Licata and Californian Rob Seal, who’d been killing it all season. The judges went with Mr. Seal as the third finalist.
Antonio & son
Steelers receiver Antonio Brown will have a little help on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” Monday. His son Antonio Jr. will be on the floor, according to dance partner Sharna Burgess.
“I want to tell the story of his most memorable year the right way,” Ms. Burgess wrote on her “Extra” blog this week. “He is doing the year he became a father for the first time. ... I am excited about the concept I have and we will have his son dance in the number with us.
“I feel it will be a beautiful moment for the two of them.”
In a somewhat-related note, Mr. Brown won an online “Day of Doom” video game challenge Tuesday. Playing with Pittsburgh’s Justine Ezarik (“iJustine”), he took down fellow football players Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and Woodland Hills grad Rob Gronkowski, as well as retired soccer player Thierry Henry and three other online YouTube personalities.
The event can be viewed at Rooster Teeth’s YouTube gaming channel.
