Kurt Angle’s list of accolades just got longer as WWE announced Monday that he will be a member of the 2017 class of the WWE Hall of Fame.
He will be inducted during the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony during WrestleMania weekend in April.
Angle attended Clarion University where he won two NCAA titles and earned a pair of All-American honors.
He eventually qualified for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, which was where he became a household name after he won a gold medal in freestyle wrestling.
Angle obecame a professional wrestler in 1998 when he signed with WWE and made his on-screen debut at Survivor Series in November of 1999.
The Mt. Lebanon native did not waste any time making an impact, as he won the European, Intercontinental — which he held simultaneously — and WWE titles less than a year after his debut.
By the time Angle’s WWE tenure came to an end in 2006, he had won five world titles and was featured in the main event of WrestleMania 19 in 2003.
