Never too early ...

Never too early ...

February 14, 2008

... to start talking about the draft. Sports Illustrated's Don Banks in his second mock draft of the year now has the Steelers taking OT Jeff Otah of Pitt in the first round.

A tremendous pick in BNG's eyes, so long as they address the D-line on day one too. One wonders if the Steelers could go back in time to draft day 2007 and made a serious offer to a team selecting in the top 10 and offering Alan Faneca and their No. 1 pick for a chance to land Levi Brown or Gaines Adams.

Likewise with the '06 draft -- BNG has never been completely sold on Santonio and in selecting him the Steelers passed on Joseph Addai and Laurence Maroney. Not that Santonio is a bust -- far from it -- but could you imagine a Steeler backfield with Fast Willie and one of those two horses?
