Good morning,
Steelers linebacker James Harrison defends guns, and says it wasn’t the gun who killed anyone in Kansas City, but the guy pulling the trigger.
"It's a big issue as far as what happened and everything, it's a sad story,'' Harrison told USA TODAY Sports. "But the fact of it being part of the guns … They want to say it's guns and all this other stuff. It's ridiculous. He did it. And he alone is responsible for it. It has nothing to do with the guns.
Here’s the story by veteran reporter Jim Corbett:

--- It’s amazing what one victory can change? It’s as if the Steelers already have qualified for the playoffs, judging by the atmosphere in Pittsburgh (aka the talk show callers). What has changed with this team other than the return of a quarterback who could not prevent them from losing to Oakland, Tennessee and a tie at home to Kansas City? They’ve also lost a top cornerback. I could easily see them going 2-2 over the next four and that game vs. the Bengals is far from a gimme.
--- You think the Steelers have injury problems, check out the Chargers, especially their offensive line. And this story contains a word that isn’t a word but a redundancy that has become popular. I’ve even heard journalists use it. If you re-aggravate something, did you just aggravate it, aggravate it again, or perhaps just reinjure it?

--- Onto your questions:
--- YOU: I watched Tomlins presser for the first time all the way through. First, what on earth was he trying to say about the QB position, specifically Leftwich?? Also, does he normally go down to analyzing the opponent 5 deep at OLB? My sympathies on that one!
ME: I couldn’t figure out what he was trying to say about Byron Leftwich other than he won’t practice at quarterback this week and won’t suit up for the game. Yes, he gives us a pretty lengthy scouting report of each team. It takes up more time which means less time for questions.
--- YOU: On the Steeler site there are game photos of Charlie Batch throwing with gloves on both hands as well as photos with out a glove on his throwing hand. In B-More he didn’t wear a glove at all on the throwing hand. But he did have a glove on the off hand. Are these kind of tweener days weather wise? One would think the whole glove thing would be figured out way before game 12.
ME: They usually wear them depending on the weather – cold, rainy, etc. It was warm in Baltimore.
--- YOU: Perhaps it was the lack of prohibition at my house on Sunday afternoon, but it seemed to me that a lot of shot gun snaps hit Charlie Batch in the gut. Did you see that as well and how did half of those not end up on the ground?
ME: Really? You’re watching the game way too closely.
--- YOU: I see the Cardinals released Todd Heap, should the Steelers go out and pick him up? Just kidding.
ME: Thanks for adding that second sentence because I will get that question from serious fans.
--- YOU: The Burgh has done a number on the OC for as long as I can recall, and sometimes deservingly so. I thought one of the keys to the continued offensive improvement on Sunday was some smart play calling by Todd Haley. No question Batch improved himself by throwing more accurately, sometimes exceptionally well. I thought there was a good mix of runs and passes and what appeared to me to be some smart adjustments such as longer routes for the WRs when Baltimore was taking away things underneath. Do you agree?
ME: Yes.
--- YOU: Is it me or does the national media seem a lot more optimistic than local on Ben starting?
ME: Are you reading the local media. Because if you are not, I would suggest you go look at this.

--- YOU: What if the Steelers had a rookie QB that won all three games in Ben's absence and your subscribers discussed the possibility of the new QB being a possible replacement? It would be a bad choice but can you blame them?
ME: I don’t blame people for asking questions, and they shouldn’t blame me for giving them answers. I’ve been in places where people would ask me a question about the Steelers, I would answer it honestly and they would get mad because they did not like the answer. Hey, if you don’t want to hear my opinion, don’t ask.
