Bob Batz Jr. has been exploring the woods
and waters around Pittsburgh since he moved here in 1986 to work for The Pittsburgh Press.
He joined the Post-Gazette after it bought the Press in 1993, and has continued writing a
variety of feature stories for all sections of the P-G, covering everything from some
Steelers fans' trip to Superbowl XXX in Tempe, Ariz., to the death and funeral of Princess
Diana in London. Before moving to Pittsburgh, he worked at The Dayton Daily News, where
his father, Bob Sr., still works, also as a features writer.
Bob Jr., knowing since he was a kid that he wanted to follow his dad's footsteps,
graduated from the University of Dayton in 1985 with a bachelor's in English. Now 34, he
lives in Mt. Lebanon with his cat, Elke. |

Annie
O'Neill has been a photographer at the Post-Gazette since May 1995 . Before coming to
Pittsburgh, she worked at The Detroit News for two years after attending the University of
Missouri. O'Neill grew up on Long Island, N.Y., with her nine brother and sisters.
O'Neill lives on the Mexican War Streets of Pittsburgh's North Side, with her favorite
wild animal, Boscoe the dog. |
