Derry police arrested a Derry man this afternoon, charging him with shooting another local man twice in the face during an argument, then fleeing as the victim stumbled into a nearby bank in search of help.
Robbie Snow, 20, has been charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, receiving stolen property and firearms charges in connection with the shooting, according to a police criminal complaint. Mr. Snow had been arguing with Larry Dunlap, also in his 20s, inside Mr. Dunlap's apartment on South Chestnut Street when Mr. Snow pulled out a stolen .22 revolver and shot Mr. Dunlap twice under his right eye, according to Derry police.
Mr. Snow, whom police say admitted to the shooting under questioning, left the gun in a mailbox in the apartment hallway, then fled the scene for his residence on East 4th Street. There, he threw his bloody clothes into some nearby woods and took a shower, according to police. He was arrested at his residence without incident.
Meanwhile, Mr. Dunlap stumbled into the Ameriserv Bank, next door to his apartment building, and collapsed there. Bank workers called the police, and Mr. Dunlap was taken to Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown with non-life threatening injuries, according to Derry police.
