Motorcyclist killed in Pennsylvania Turnpike crash identified

Speed is believed to be a factor in an early morning motorcycle crash in Westmoreland County that killed a McKees Rocks man, according to the Westmoreland County coroner's office.

Leonard J. Rhominski, 24, was riding his motorcycle west on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Penn Township shortly before 1:45 a.m, deputy coroner Timothy P. O'Donnell said.

He did not successfully make a bend in the road and crashed into a guide rail, throwing him off the bike, Mr. O'Donnell said.

Mr. Rhominski was wearing a helmet.

The coroner's office ruled the crash an accident.

Toxicology results are expected in two weeks, Mr. O'Donnell said.
