A Westmoreland County teen was killed when a deer ran in front of a vehicle, causing the driver to lose control and crash into a tree early Thursday morning.
Justin T. Malik, 17, of Herminie, was riding in a car traveling through New Stanton just after 1 a.m. when witnesses said the driver lost control of the vehicle on 321 Arona Road, the Westmoreland County Coroner's Office said in a press release.
Witnesses said the car went off the road and struck a large tree, then continued into a cyclone fence. Justin was wearing a seatbelt but was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy performed today concluded he died of head, chest and abdomen injuries sustained in the accidental crash.
State police in Greensburg will release additional details at their discretion.
