One man died and another was injured in an altercation in Washington County this morning.
Officials are still trying to sort out the details. An emergency dispatch supervisor said the first call for the incident in the 300 block of Sunset Drive in West Pike Run came about 10:25 a.m., although the coroner reported it happened about two hours earlier.
First-responders pronounced Robert J. Watson, 43, of Bentleyville dead at the scene at 11:40 a.m.
Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said in a news release that Mr. Watson died of multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and ruled the death a homicide. He said Mr. Watson was "involved in an altercation" with another man, who he did not name, inside a detached garage at a home on Sunset Drive.
Trooper Stefani Plume, who is releasing information on behalf of the Belle Vernon state police barracks, said another man, Joseph Volcheck, no age or hometown provided, also was injured in the altercation.
Officials said Mr. Volcheck was flown to Allegheny General Hospital. A spokesman said this afternoon that the hospital was not releasing any information about Mr. Volcheck's condition.
