A North Strabane man was in jail tonight after police said he violated his wife's protection from abuse order multiple times and, when he became angry at her, scattered her underwear across several miles of local roads.
Police said James C. Klutch, 54, went to his wife's house about 11 p.m. yesterday, several hours after he was served with a protection from abuse order prohibiting him from being there. North Strabane Patrolman Matthew Mancini said Mr. Klutch took several belongings from the house, including his wife's underwear.
His wife called 911 but Mr. Klutch had disappeared before police arrived, Patrolman Mancini said. He said Mr. Klutch returned to the house several more times, piling up more charges. In between one set of visits, he drove across several miles of residential roads, dropping his wife's underwear as he went.
Officers put out an alert this afternoon for neighboring departments to be on the lookout for Mr. Klutch. Peters Township officers spotted Mr. Klutch "highly intoxicated" in a restaurant parking lot, Patrolman Mancini said.
Mr. Klutch was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment stemming from the first visit to his wife's home. He remained in the Washington County Correctional Facility on $25,000 bail late tonight.
