WQED Multimedia once again led all local outlets when nominations for the 2013 Mid-Atlantic Emmys were announced earlier this evening.
Announcement parties were held at the Mexican Post in Philadelphia, the Public Media Center in Harrisburg and, appropriately, at WQED's studios in Oakland. The awards, which will be handed out September 7 in Philadelphia, honor excellence in TV news, programming and individual achievement in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
The Board of Governors career award will go to broadcast pioneer Marciarose Shestack.
"This marks the 31st year for the Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards and we are encouraged to see both strong interest and increased participation among members," said WQED's David Solomon, NATAS chapter president and himself a nominee as producer.
WQED scored 23 nominations, followed by a strong showing from WTAE-TV (21), KDKA (16) and WPXI (13). ROOT Sports Pittsburgh had five.
