Oldies station WKFB-AM (770) is among 120 stations nominated for best oldies/greatest hits stations in the country.

Sean Ross, editor of the radio industry newsletter Ross on Radio, has been highlighting oldies stations and greatest hits formats across the country regularly in his columns. Now he's inviting listeners to vote for their favorites in an online poll.

Mr. Ross wrote that the nominees list is made up of stations that think outside the usual song lists and guidelines of the oldies format. "Overall, we were looking for greatest hits/oldies stations for music lovers -- stations that you can depend on to hear something different."

WKFB in North Versailles, which plays music from the 1950s through the '70s, is nominated for best station in the AM category with 11 others. Other categories include large-market FMs, medium- and small-market FMs, new platforms, '80s/'90s/next gen, classic R&B/jammin' oldies, and international.

Host Frankie Day -- also known as North Versailles businessman Frank Dittig -- campaigns for the station on air and through a link at www.frankieday.com. The station also carries weekly programs hosted by Caveman Ralph and Suzie Q.

The poll allows for write-in nominees. Deadline for voting is Dec. 31. To check out the nominees and vote: www.surveymonkey.com/s/ROR2010GH.
