ION Media Networks, which has reached an agreement with Pittsburgh's WQED to purchase sister station WQEX for $3 million, has announced the new name for Channel 16: WINP-TV.
"We look forward to better serving the local Pittsburgh community with ION's broad spectrum of high quality and affordable programming, with something for everyone in the family," said Brandon Burgess, ION Media Networks CEO.
ION estimates the station will reach about 1.2 million households and that the new call letters are shorthand for "Win Pittsburgh over." The sales agreement is pending FCC approval.
