Transit advocates will travel to Harrisburg on Tuesday to lobby for legislation that would provide more funding.
Pennsylvanians for Public Transit is sponsoring buses that will depart at 7:30 a.m. from Freedom Corner, Centre Avenue at Crawford Street in the Hill District, and from the David L. Lawrence Convention Center underpass near Penn Avenue and 10th Street in Downtown.
The group plans to distribute information about the benefits of public transit to legislators and deliver petitions supporting long-term funding for transit.
The state Senate is expected to vote this week on Senate Bill 1, which would raise the tax on gasoline wholesalers and most vehicle fees to generate new revenue for roads, bridges, transit and other transportation modes.
