Calling all budding ballerinas.

For the first time, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School is holding an open audition for new talent.

Dancers ages 8 to 15 of any skill level are invited to participate at the PBT School's studios, 2900 Liberty Ave., Strip District. Those with little or no experience will be taught basic positions and evaluated on flexibility and turn out. For more experienced applicants, the audition will model a ballet class with barre exercises and pointe work, when appropriate.

The PBT School offers dance training by instructors with professional backgrounds and classes with live music. Students also have opportunities to dance with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre company, such as in the annual "Nutcracker" performance.

The free audition is from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Participants should dress in solid colored leotards with tights and ballet slippers (and bring pointe shoes, if the dancer has them).

Learn more about the PBT School at www.pbt.org or 412-281-6727.
