After a daylong intermittent outage, Google said its Gmail service had been mostly restored by 4 p.m.
According to the latest update on its Apps status page, the company expected "a resolution for all users within the next 3 hours" but that the company expected "a small and declining number of messages to still be affected for the next 3 hours as the remaining delivery backlog is cleared."
As of 3 p.m., an update stated "Gmail service already has been restored for some users," with a full resolution expected within the hour.
An update at 2:05 p.m. reported the issue was "affecting less than 50 percent" of Gmail users.
The apps status dashboard showed Google Documents and Google Presentation apps were also experiencing problems.
Google said it was continuing to investigate the Gmail issue. The company claims 425 million active Gmail users.
