West Virginia University standout Tavon Austin was named first-team Associated Press All-American on Tuesday as an all-purpose player, and teammate Stedman Bailey was named to the second team.

Austin amassed 2,760 all-purpose yards this season as the team's most consistent playmaker at receiver, running back, and returning kicks and punts.

He put on one of the most remarkable displays in Mountaineer history in a 50-49 loss to Oklahoma on Nov. 17, when he rushed for 344 yards and collected 572 all-purpose yards against the Sooners.

Bailey, a junior who is deciding whether to return to WVU for his senior season or declare for the NFL draft, amassed 1,501 receiving yards this season and scored 23 touchdowns.
