West Virginia University has signed athletic director Oliver Luck to a contract extension through 2017, the school announced today.

Luck's salary will be $550,000, with a performance bonus capped at $150,000 per year.

"Oliver Luck is a true leader. He has brought stability, momentum and energy to his position," President Jim Clements said in a statement. "He is someone we want on our team for many more years to come."

In a statement, Luck said, "I appreciate the confidence that President Clements has placed in me and the entire athletic department team. We will continue to work hard as we transition into the Big 12, and will strive to represent this University and this state with the pride and passion each deserves. This is my alma mater and I am thrilled to serve her."

Luck was in the third year of his original five-year contract that started June 9, 2010.

From hiring football coach Dana Holgorsen to navigating the program out of the Big East and into the Big 12 this season, Luck has already made a strong mark.

Clements reported that Luck has raised more than $22.7 million for the University in the last year, the best fund-raising year in the department's history.
