Kansas State spoils Huggins' return in WVU loss

Will Spradling scored 19 points and No. 14 Kansas State (21-5, 10-3) used a big first-half run to beat West Virginia, 71-61, Monday night in a Big 12 Conference game, ruining the return of Mountaineers coach Bob Huggins to the school he helped rebuild. Deniz Kilicli had 14 points for the Mountaineers (13-13, 6-7).

Top 25 women

• Kentucky 70, Texas A&M 66: DeNesha Stallworth had 12 points and 12 rebounds as visiting No. 8 Kentucky (23-3, 11-2 SEC) held off 10th-ranked Texas A&M (20-6, 10-2).

District women

• Quinnipiac 60, Robert Morris 46: Robert Morris junior forward Artemis Spanou had 19 rebounds, setting a school record for rebounds in a season, but the Colonials (7-18, 6-8 NEC) fell to host Quinnipiac (22-2, 13-0).

• California men's coach Mike Montgomery was reprimanded by the Pac-12 for shoving guard Allen Crabbe in the chest Saturday in a game against USC.
