Iowa edges WVU women

Jaime Printy made all 17 of her free throws and scored 19 points as Iowa rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit to defeat No. 12 West Virginia, 79-70, Sunday at the FIU Thanksgiving Classic in Miami.

Thirteen of Printy's free throws came in the second half, when the Hawkeyes (5-2) used a 24-8 run to lead, 67-60, with 2:12 remaining.

She made eight free throws in the final 45 seconds.

Morgan Johnson also scored 19 points, including 14 in the second half, for Iowa, which made 27 of 30 free throws (90 percent) after halftime. The Hawkeyes also were sharp from the field after the break, making 59.1 percent (13 of 22), while the Mountaineers (3-2) made just 30.8 percent (12 of 39).

Taylor Palmer scored 23 points and Christal Caldwell 17 for West Virginia, which also lost Friday to LSU.

• Stanford 77, Long Beach State 41: Chiney Ogwumike had 16 points and 11 rebounds and No. 1 Stanford beat visiting Long Beach State (3-4) in its first game holding the top spot in the poll in nearly eight years. Joslyn Tinkle added 18 points and Amber Orrange scored Stanford's first seven points of the game and finished with 13 for the Cardinal (6-0).

• UCLA 65, Princeton 52: Nirra Fields scored 26 points and Markel Walker added 23 points, and No. 19 UCLA (3-1) overcame an 11-point first-half deficit to beat visiting Princeton (3-2).

• Kansas 58, Creighton 48: Monica Engelman and Carolyn Davis had 12 points apiece and No. 22 Kansas (5-0) defeated host Creighton (2-2).

• North Carolina 101, UNC Asheville 42: Waltiea Rolle scored 19 points and Megan Buckland 17 as No. 25 North Carolina (6-0) dominated UNC Asheville (1-4).

• Dayton 105, Eastern Illinois 42: Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova was 9 of 9 from the field with a career-high 21 points to go with two blocks as No. 24 Dayton (6-0) rolled over Eastern Illinois (2-3) to win the Dayton Marriott Classic.

• Duke 82, Xavier 59: Chelsea Gray scored a season-high 22 points, freshman Alexis Jones added a career-high 14, and No. 4 Duke (4-0) routed Xavier (3-2).

• St. John's 66, Hartford 54: Shenneika Smith recorded a double-double and No. 18 St. John's (4-1) pulled away from host Hartford (5-1).
