ESPN's GameDay crew makes first visit to WVU

ESPN's "College GameDay" show will be broadcast from Morgantown, W.Va., for the first time Saturday, showcasing the colorful campus where John Denver's song "Country Roads" wails after a win.

The GameDay crew will air from a site yet to be announced on campus and will feature West Virginia's prime-time showdown against LSU (3-0) at 8 p.m. Saturday on ABC (WTAE).

"We look forward to welcoming GameDay to Morgantown. I know our fans will turn out and show their strong passion for West Virginia football," Mountaineers coach Dana Holgorsen said in a statement. "It will be an exciting day on campus and for our football program."

The announcement came Sunday morning. West Virginia defeated Maryland, 37-31, Saturday in College Park, Md., to stay undefeated at 3-0.

The visit by the GameDay crew -- Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Lee Corso, Erin Andrews and David Pollack -- is the first to Morgantown in the 25-year history of the television program.

GameDay analysts make game predictions and discusses the best matchups of the day from a different college location each week. The show starts at 9 a.m. on ESPNU and then continues from 10 a.m.-noon on ESPN.




NOTES -- West Virginia moved up to No. 16 in the Associated Press poll after beating Maryland. The Mountaineers had been ranked 18th. ...
