Running backs coach Kirby Wilson has been spending more time on his duties and assisting the Steelers in their preparations for the NFL draft -- another indication he is on the road to recovery after suffering severe burns in a fire at his home in early January.

Wilson was at the team's facility Monday and will be there throughout the three days of the draft that begins Thursday night.

"It's great to initially have him back in the building and working," coach Mike Tomlin said. "We're just starting the process of getting him fully back into this thing."

Wilson has been assisting the Steelers in the evaluation of running back prospects in the draft. He is allowed to drive again and has been coming to the team's South Side facility on his own.

"I really want to make note of Kirby Wilson showing up and getting back in the mix, at full speed, with his preparation," said general manager Kevin Colbert. "It was really inspiring to have him back in the fold."
