Ward, Farrior, Smith, Kemoeatu officially ex-Steelers

The Steelers have officially released the four veterans they announced last week would be cut and all four are free immediately to negotiate with other NFL teams and sign with them.
Hines Ward, Aaron Smith, James Farrior and Chris Kemoeatu officially became ex-Steelers on Friday at 4 p.m., and at least one of them is negotiating with teams to find a new home.
"We're talking to three teams, actually," said Ken Vierra, Kemoeatu's agent.
Free agency does not begin until 4 p.m. Tuesday but vested veterans, as are all four ex-Steelers, do not have to go through waivers this time of year, and they become free to sign elsewhere after their release.
Smith is expected to retire but the other three have either said or their agents have said they want to play in 2012.
"In fairness to everybody, there's no rush to get it done this week," Vierra said of Kemoeatu's next signing. "Free agency starts Tuesday. We'll see if anything develops in the next few days.''
