Ben Roethlisberger went through a full practice that Mike Tomlin called "positive" today and appears on track to return to start for the Steelers Sunday in Heinz Field against the San Diego Chargers.

"I saw him make the necessary throws today,'' Tomlin said afterward.

Roethlisberger has missed the past three games because of shoulder and rib injuries. He has never missed four games in a row because of injury.

Tomlin said the next test for Roethlisberger will be to see how he feels on Thursday after going through a full practice.

Charlie Batch started the past two games in his place after backup Byron Leftwich started against Baltimore Nov. 18 and had his ribs broken in that game. Roetlisberger was injured against Kansas City Nov. 12.
