Steelers' Leftwich out with broken arm, but Pouncey OK
Share with others:
Steelers backup quarterback Byron Leftwich has a broken upper left arm and likely will go on injured reserve, ending his season.
Leftwich, scheduled again to be the No. 2 quarterback this season, was injured early in the third quarter, on his first series of the game.
However, the Steelers did receive some good news on center Maurkice Pouncey, who limped off the field in the first quarter. Pouncey has a sprained left ankle and should be fine for the start of the regular season Sept. 11.
The injury to Leftwich means that the Steelers will keep both Charlie Batch and Dennis Dixon as quarterbacks behind Roethlisberger. The two had been competing for the third and final spot on the depth chart at the position.
