Steelers president Art Rooney, defensive end Aaron Smith and receiver Hines Ward took up the barbers' scissors and helped defensive end Brett Keisel shave his long, thick beard Thursday at Diesel Club Lounge on the South Side.
More than 400 fans paid $25 each to watch the event. The proceeds of ticket and merchandise sales, as well as an auction, went towards the cancer programs at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
"I gotta say, I never figured I'd be cutting another man's beard," Smith said.
The celebrity barbers, which also included center Doug Legursky and defensive line coach John Mitchell, snipped bits and pieces of the beard away. Keisel shaved the beard, as well as his head, down to stubble off stage and reappeared wearing a suit and tie.
