The Steelers released two players from their off-season roster -- running back Chad Spann and cornerback Antonio Smith.

Spann was signed to the practice squad Dec. 12, 2011, and spent the remainder of the regular season there. He was signed to the active roster Jan. 4 and appeared on special teams in the AFC wild-card playoff loss in Denver.

Smith was signed to the Steelers offseason roster on Jan. 18. He originally entered the league as a rookie free agent with the Cleveland Browns in 2009.
