Steelers Archives: Decade by decade
Share with others:
As we enter the 75th year of the Steelers Nation, post-gazetteNOW is pleased to celebrate and chronicle the growth of not just a football franchise team but also a city's passion for that team.
Below you will find links to the front page stories by sports reporter Bob Dvorchak, decade-by-decade explorations of the teams' glorious and sometimes "raucous" past.
Slideshows created from the PG photo archives with numerous contributions from the Steelers and the Heinz History Center, show us interesting team moments and characters. Historical photos not only show us Steeler football over the last 75 years, but also the City of Pittsburgh as it grows from the soot and smoke of the past to the home of a great dynasty.
In addition, vintage articles from the PG archives takes readers back in time to meet greats like William "Bullet Bill" Dudley, Ernie Stautner, Johnny Blood, Byron "Whizzer" White and of course, "The Chief", Art Rooney Sr.
