FORT WORTH, Texas ---- One day after they officially announced that Maurkice Pouncey would not play in Super Bowl XLV, the Steelers put their rookie Pro Bowl center on the injured reserve list and activated guard Dorian Brooks to the 53-man roster.

The move was made to give the Steelers an extra body on the offensive line Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers. But it also was done to give the team another player who can play center.

Brooks, an undrafted rookie free agent from James Madison University who was on the practice squad, has played both positions in practice for the Steelers.

Doug Legursky will replace Pouncey, who started all 18 games this season before he was injured in the AFC championship. His backup is guard/tackle Trai Essex, who never has played center in a game at any level.
