The jury-trial hearing on domestic violence and abuse charges against rookie receiver Santonio Holmes has been postponed until Aug. 24 because of a conflict in his attorney's schedule.

Holmes was scheduled for a hearing at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Columbus, Ohio, before Judge Michael Brandt. But his attorney, Sam Shamansky, was granted a continuance because he is involved in another trial that day.

"Plus, we need to get some additional information," Shamansky said.

The new trial date for Holmes is the day before the Steelers' third preseason game in Philadelphia. Shamansky said he still does not know if Holmes has to be present for the hearing.

Holmes, the team's No. 1 draft choice from Ohio State, has been charged with domestic violence and abuse -- both first-degree misdemeanors -- against Lashae Boone of Columbus, who is the mother of his third child.
