Holmes still a Jet, with issues

The Jets have maintained Santonio Holmes was going to return next season despite his highly publicized rift with quarterback Mark Sanchez .
Since Holmes was on the Jets' roster Wednesday -- two days after the start of the NFL's 2012 waiver wire period -- $7.5 million of the wide receiver's 2013 salary is now fully guaranteed.
Holmes' $7.75 million salary for 2012 was already guaranteed, which means the Jets are on the hook for at least $15.25 million guaranteed over the next two seasons with Holmes.
The Jets have repeatedly said they weren't going to cut ties with Holmes, who was accused by some of his teammates of quitting in the Jets' season-ending loss in Miami.
Last week in Indianapolis, Rex Ryan said he expected Sanchez and Holmes to get together -- just the two of them -- soon and begin trying to repair their relationship.
"They owe it to our football team to fix it," Ryan said.
Former offensive coordinator Al Saunders will remain on Oakland's coaching staff as a senior offensive assistant. Saunders was offensive coordinator under Hue Jackson last season.
