The Steelers signed their first free agent of the season, one of their own -- starting guard Ramon Foster.

Although Foster, as a restricted free agent, could have entertained other offers until April 20, he signed his one-year tender from the Steelers worth $1,260,000 that binds him to the team.

Foster, who signed with the Steelers after he was not drafted in 2009, has started 26 games, including 14 last season. He and starting left guard Doug Legursky were restricted free agents who received the $1,260,000 tenders from the Steelers. If they signed elsewhere, the Steelers had the right to match but would receive no compensation in return.

Foster is the first RFA to sign his tender with the Steelers.

Visiting elsewhere

Two Steelers unrestricted free agents, quarterback Dennis Dixon and wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery, had visits with the St. Louis Rams this week, according to NFL Network.
