Ed Bouchette: Hello, Here at SOS (Steelers Off Season), I welcome you back for a 30-minute chat about the Steelers' playoff run and how exciting it all is. Oh, sorry, I got carried away. Those are the New York JETS who are doing that. Let's begin ...
IlliniSteeler: What have you heard about the offensive line coach? I believe center is their biggest need on the o-line in the draft- what are your thoughts? Thanks.
Ed Bouchette: I've heard good things, but I want to see it happen first. He did wonders in Buffalo with little the past season and some guy named Moe gained 1,000 yards behind his line.
TBurg_Pete: Hi, Ed. I saw Heath Miller received one All-Pro vote. Do you know anyone who voted for him?
Ed Bouchette: In fact, I do. It was me. I voted for Miller, Jeff Reed and LaMarr Woodley from the Steelers. None, of course, made it.
TBurg_Pete: Ed, do you think Mr. Rooney's statement of wanting to see younger players contributing more and sooner will happen?
Ed Bouchette: If my boss said he wanted me to develop the younger players more quickly, I would say it would have an effect. How do you go about doing that is the real question.
NCSteel: Ed, Were you surprised by Art Rooney's declaration last week? How will this affect their draft choices in April?
Ed Bouchette: No, I was not surprised. Art said what everyone has been thinking (most everyone, apparently some were not thinking along those lines) that this team needed to be able to run the ball BETTER. That does not mean committing to the run as your primary weapon, it means running it better and, a word Art used, consistently. I do not think it will affect their draft choices.
Dave Dumas: Ed: since you're the official Steelers beat-writer (I assume) are your articles written on the Steelers organization done with the blessing of Steelers front office. e.g. you hinted 2 days before the draft, Ziggy Hood was the guy. And that info could have been frowned on by the front office or ... do you write with or without the "guidance" by the front office?
