Steelers Q&A with Ed Bouchette

Q: Hi Ed. I am trying to choose my words wisely after watching this clunker against Jacksonville. Has Dick LeBeau's defense been simply "figured out" by opposing offenses or did his players quit on him? The linebackers especially should be ashamed of their performance.

BOUCHETTE: The Steelers were No. 1 in the NFL heading into the Jacksonville game even though New England rang up 421 yards against them. But then the Jaguars got 421 too, including 224 on the ground. That is most unusual -- the first 200-yard game in Heinz Field by an opponent. They won't make this excuse, but I think they sorely missed defensive end Aaron Smith. Still, they tackled poorly and even though they knew Jacksonville would run, they could not stop them. The Jaguars imposed their will, something the Steelers used to do more often with their own run game.
