Ed Bouchette's Daily Question

Question: The Steelers passing game has gone nowhere this year. Should they have tried harder to keep Plaxico Burress or even Antwaan Randle El?
Regis Beighley, Columbus, Ga.
BOUCHETTE: Ben Roethlisberger asked them to try to keep Burress when he became a free agent in 2005, but he thought he would get big money elsewhere and did, sort of, with the Giants. Last year, the team won a Super Bowl without him. They would have loved to have kept Randle El, but there was no way they could match the kind of deal he got with the Redskins, a reported $8 million in a signing bonus. Not for someone who is, basically, a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver.
