Colonials cruise to second win in a row

After getting called out by coach Andy Toole for their poor performance -- especially in last week's loss to Central Connecticut State -- the Robert Morris Colonials have put together a winning streak.
Lucky Jones returned from a one-game suspension for a violation of team rules to pace the Colonials with 18 points in a 70-55 win at Monmouth in West Long Branch, N.J.
The victory for Robert Morris is its second in a row after the Colonials dropped three consecutive -- including their first two Northeast Conference games.
Robert Morris (10-7, 2-2) led, 29-21, at halftime but slowly pulled away from the Hawks (6-11, 1-3) throughout the second half.
Jones, a sophomore forward who averages 9.3 points per game and does a little of everything for the Colonials, repeatedly came through with big plays.
After an Andrew Nicholas layup cut the Monmouth deficit to 10 at the 16:11 mark of the second half, Jones scored five consecutive points to keep the Hawks at bay.
Then, a three-point play by Jones with 9:02 remaining gave the Colonials a 51-30 lead to put the game away.
Coron Williams scored 14 points and Mike McFadden added 12 for Robert Morris.
Russell Johnson finished with 10 rebounds to go along with 7 points, 6 assists and 4 steals.
