Reform group endorses 3 Penn State trustee candidates

A group that says it wants to reform Penn State University's board of trustees on Wednesday announced its endorsement of three candidates for the three alumni board seats up for election this spring.

According to Penn Staters for Responsible Stewardship, also known as PS4RS, the candidates receiving the group's nod are:

??? Mark Connolly of West Chester, Pa., doctoral degree in inorganic chemistry (1984). A global intellectual property director at DuPont, responsible for intellectual property protection, patent analysis and trade secret risk management for DuPont Central Research and Development and Industrial Biosciences.

???; Barbara Doran of New York City, bachelor's in liberal arts (1975). A private wealth manager at Morgan Stanley, with a specialty in equity and hedge fund investing.

???; and Anthony Lubrano, of Glenmoore, Pa., bachelor's in accounting (1982). He is founder and president of A.P. Lubrano & Co. Inc., specializing in group retirement services, wealth management and group health and welfare consulting, as well as a prominent donor for whom the university's baseball park is named.

PS4RS formed in the aftermath of the child sex abuse scandal involving former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky. The group has criticized the trustees' response to the crisis and are calling for greater transparency in board decision-making.Dozens of individuals are hoping to secure alumni seats in an election that some expect will produce an unusually high turnout. Candidates must obtain 50 nominations to be placed on the ballot for Voting that will run fromis April 10 through 9 a.m. May 3.
