UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State confirmed today that starting outside linebacker Mike Mauti will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in Saturday's 34-6 victory over Eastern Michigan.
Team doctor Wayne Sebastianelli said Mauti will have surgery within two weeks and rehabilitation will take a minimum of nine months.
A redshirt junior, he also missed the 2009 season with an ACL injury to his right knee and parts of four games last year with shoulder injuries.
Senior cornerback D'Anton Lynn also was injured during the game and was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center. Lynn's head, neck and spinal column were examined, and he was released late Saturday afternoon.
Lynn's playing status is unknown, and he will be re-evaluated throughout the upcoming week by the Penn State medical staff.
