Penn State players win conference honors

Penn State linebacker Michael Mauti was named Big Ten player of the week, and defensive end Deion Barnes was named co-freshman of the week.

Mauti, a senior, had 12 tackles, including two tackles for loss, as well as a sack in Penn State's 34-7 victory against Navy. He led a defense that forced four turnovers.

Barnes had five tackles and a sack, his third of the season. He also forced a fumble for the second consecutive game.

Penn State also announced that its Sept. 29 game against Illinois is set for noon.
