Penn State running back Bill Belton and cornerback Stephon Morris are both considered day-to-day as they recover from sprained ankles sustained during Saturday's second half against Ohio.

Coach Bill O'Brien said they were probable and he would know for sure if they were ready to play by Thursday. Generally, he said, he wants his players to be able to practice on Thursdays and Fridays if he plans to play them for Saturday games.

If Morris is out, O'Brien said he had not yet moved anyone to add depth to the secondary. Freshman Da'Quan Davis is listed as Morris' backup on the depth chart.

If Belton is out, O'Brien said senior Derek Day would be the likely starter. Day had eight carries for 36 yards on Saturday. Last year, he had only seven carries for 27 yards and largely contributed on special teams.

"He is a guy who has shown a lot of improvement in the last six or seven months," O'Brien said.
