Penn State's biggest recruiting weekend of the offseason thus far was a successful one.
The Nittany Lions received verbal commitments from three 2013 prospects, according to the recruiting website Lions247.
Linebackers Zayd Issah and Jonathan Walton and cornerback Anthony Smith are the commits.
Issah, who is 6 feet 2, 205 pounds and attends Central Dauphin High School, originally committed to Penn State in the summer but withdrew his commitment after the NCAA sanctions.
Rivals.com rates Issah as a three-star recruit and he had offers from Akron, Arizona State, Connecticut and Maryland, among others.
Walton, from Bayside Academy in Alabama, is 6-2, 228 pounds and is rated a two-star recruit by Rivals. He had offers from Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech and Troy, among others.
Smith, from Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, Pa., is 6-1, 185 pounds. He gives Penn State its fourth defensive back commitment.
The Nittany Lions now have three linebackers in the class.
In all, Penn State has 16 players committed for the class of 2013.
The NCAA has restricted Penn State to 15 new scholarships per year, meaning some of the players will have to enroll early so they will not count against the 15 scholarship total for this class.
