Former Second Mile camper sues alleging Sandusky abuse

A 22-year-old man who claims Jerry Sandusky molested him while swimming at a Second Mile summer camp filed suit Monday in federal court in Scranton against the former Nittany Lions assistant football coach, Penn State University, Second Mile and a number of other figures in the center of the abuse scandal.
The man, called "John Doe" in the lawsuit, claims all played a hand in allowing the abuse to occur and all are partially responsible for the abuse he claims he suffered in 2005.
"All ... engaged in a cover-up that led to severe and permanent emotional and other injuries suffered by the plaintiff," according to the lawsuit.
In the lawsuit, the man alleges he was referred to the Second Mile Summer Challenge by Edgewater Psychiatric Center, also named in the lawsuit.
The man said in the summer of 2005, when he was 14, Sandusky touched him inappropriately while he was swimming at camp.
The man "has suffered deep upset and injury and has been permanently injured emotionally and has been traumatized by the abuse he has suffered at the hands of the defendants," the suit alleges. "But for the breach of duties owed to him by the other defendants ... the plaintiff alleges he would not have been injured by Sandusky. The defendants' cover-ups and protections of Sandusky's and Penn State University's unlawful misconduct was and is the proximate cause of the injuries plaintiff suffered at Sandusky's hands."
The plaintiff cited sexual assault, negligence, violation of his constitutional rights, civil conspiracy and intentional infliction of emotional distress as grounds for the lawsuit. He requests attorneys' fees and punitive damages.
