Pitt sophomore Malcolm Gilbert has decided to transfer.

Gilbert, a 6-foot-11 center, played in 19 games last season as a freshman. He had not played this season and coach Jamie Dixon said the plan had been to redshirt him.

"Malcolm has asked for his release and has informed me that he wants to play with his brother," Dixon said. "He's a great kid, hard worker and good player. We thank Malcolm for his contribution to our program over the last year and a half and wish him much success in the future."

Gilbert is the third player from the 2011 recruiting class to transfer. Khem Birch transferred last December and John Johnson transferred last month.

The only remaining player on the roster from the '11 recruiting class is redshirt freshman guard/forward Durand Johnson.
