Pitt promotes House to defensive coordinator

Pitt coach Paul Chryst has promoted secondary coach Matt House to defensive coordinator, the university announced today.

Under House, Pitt's defense was ranked 20th in the nation in pass defense (194.15 yards per game), pass efficiency defense (21st, 113.12 rating) and interceptions (26th, 15 total).

Pitt also has hired veteran coach John Palermo as defensive ends and linebackers coach and former Pitt defensive back Hank Poteat (1996-99) as a graduate assistant. He will work with the cornerbacks.
