No. 23 Pitt overcame a slow start and defeated South Florida, 64-44, tonight at the Petersen Events Center.

Tray Woodall scored 14 points to lead the Panthers. Reserve center Dante Taylor added 12 and reached double figures for the first time in 19 games.

With the victory, Pitt (22-7, 10-6) notched 10 conference wins for the 11th time in the past 12 seasons. No other team in the Big East has done that.

It was another fine defensive outing for the Panthers, who held an opponent under 50 points for the 12th time this season.

The Panthers led 26-25 at halftime, but they went on a 16-0 run to seize control early in the second half.
