Theodre Roosevelt (Ohio) quarterback Tra'von Chapman made a verbal commitment to Pitt this morning and that's welcome news for Paul Chryst and his staff as he was their top quarterback target and one of their top priorities from the class of 2013.

Chapman is a four-star rated prospect by both Scout.com and Rivals.com and had a number of offers but chose the Panthers over Wisconsin, Illinois, Boston College, Arizona, Akron. Chapman threw for 2800 yards and rushed for 800 yards last season and accounted for 37 touchdowns (29 throwing, eight rushing).

He is the highest rated of Pitt's 11 commitments from the class for 2013.

Pitt also received a verbal commitment from Carson Baker, a 6-foot-5, 315 pound offensive tackle from Fairborn, Ohio.,

Baker chose the Panthers over an offer from Toledo.

He is the 12th player from the class of 2013 to verbally commit to the Panthers but only the second offensive lineman.
