NEW YORK -- Pitt defeated Delaware, 85-59, this afternoon in the consolation game of the N.I.T. Tip-Off at Madison Square Garden. The Panthers return home with a 5-1 record after splitting two games here and next face Howard Tuesday night at the Petersen Events Center.

Junior forward Talib Zanna led the Panthers with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Lamar Patterson had 16 points and 10 boards. Tray Woodall and Steven Adams added 13 points apiece.

The Panthers jumped all over the Blue Hens from the start. They led 23-6 with 10 minutes remaining in the first half and took a 41-23 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Delaware (2-3) never seriously threatened in the second half even though guard Devon Saddler scored 19 of his game-high 28 points after halftime.
