Pitt defeated IUP, 69-54, in the first exhibition game of the season tonight at the Petersen Events Center.

Senior guard Tray Woodall led the Panthers with 16 points and J.J. Moore added 14 off the bench for the Panthers, who had to overcome a slow start against the Division II Crimson Hawks.

Pitt trailed in the early stages of the contest and led 21-16 at halftime. The Panthers were just 9 for 25 from the field in the first half and made four of those buckets in the final 3:25 before halftime.

The Panthers surged ahead early in the second half. A 3-pointer from Moore capped a 14-2 run and made it 42-27 with 11:48 remaining.
